RETRO or EPHEMERA

Both used to refer to what we normally just call "retro/vintage/classic"

"ephemera" because it sounds like maybe they
understand some shit....

Anyway - welcome to the re-birth of Gothic-Iowegian.com

I had begun the initial site in 1999, and it grew to
558 pages long and tried to combine things that might have been of
interest to the Goth/Gothic community and just people in general.
But the main topic was based on humor. Sorry, I'm a bit of a closet comic
and love to make people laugh and smile. I think it worked well and,
since a strong part of being drawn towards the Goth or Gothic or Dark
perspective of life IS having a deep appreciation for the ironic,
well damn....it just seemed like a good idea.

I announced the suspension of the original site in mid-2008.
It was met with many well wishes from you all and lots of
kind remarks that I had, in fact, given you a laugh here and there.

And....now I'm back. What can I say...despite all the hard work
the site had become, I missed having it and I still was tinkering with
images and turning them into snarky humor thingees...but there
was no one to share them with.

As many people began to notice, I was working lots of retro stuffs into
the original site and many graphics drew on things that
just worked SO well humor-wise, because of images that reflect the earlier times
seem to damn silly to us now. More so, because they were hot shit
and really "techno" to the folks who were the average dude-on-the-street back then.

Therefore, this new incarnation of the site is just
going to focus on retro thingees and stuffs'es.

I'm really hoping everyone that enjoyed the use of them in the original
site, will continue to enjoy them here, and will still
get a chuckle outta them. I also hope you'll simply develop an
appreciation for how fun retro based things can be.

Especially the younger crowd out there who
probably never gave it much thought.
Like my son who just started college now in 2008:
you suggest he look at an old black and white movie...
and he'll stare at you like you got a turd stuck
to your upper lip.
